Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By creating a ChatRig account or using the service, you agree to these terms. ChatRig is operated by Sidejar LLC ("we," "us," "our"). If you don't agree, don't use the service.

2. The service

ChatRig is an AI chatbot platform that lets you create, configure, and embed chatbots on your website. We provide the platform; the AI responses are generated by third-party models (e.g. OpenAI).

3. Your account

  • You must provide a valid email address and keep your credentials secure.
  • You're responsible for all activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to use ChatRig.
  • One person or organization per free account. We reserve the right to close duplicate free accounts.

4. Your content

  • You own all content you upload (knowledge base files, system prompts, configurations).
  • You grant us a license to use your content solely to operate the service (e.g., sending it to OpenAI to generate responses).
  • You're responsible for ensuring you have the right to use and upload any content.
  • Conversation data between your visitors and your chatbot is stored by ChatRig to provide the service.

5. API keys (BYOK mode)

  • If you provide your own OpenAI API key, you're responsible for any charges from OpenAI.
  • We store your key encrypted and only use it to make API calls on your behalf.
  • We are not responsible for any costs incurred through your API key.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use ChatRig for any illegal purpose.
  • Upload content that infringes on others' intellectual property.
  • Create chatbots that generate harmful, abusive, or misleading content.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or overload the service.
  • Resell access to ChatRig without our written permission.
  • Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the platform.

7. Early access

During the early access period, ChatRig is provided free of charge. We may introduce paid plans at any time with reasonable notice. Early access users will receive at least 30 days notice before any charges apply.

8. Payments and billing

When paid plans are introduced, billing will be handled through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically. You can cancel anytime, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis.

9. Service availability

We aim for high uptime but don't guarantee 100% availability. The service is provided "as is." We're not liable for downtime, data loss, or AI-generated responses that are inaccurate or inappropriate.

10. AI disclaimer

Chatbot responses are generated by AI and may not always be accurate. You're responsible for reviewing and configuring your chatbot's knowledge base to ensure appropriate responses. ChatRig is not liable for any actions taken based on AI-generated responses.

11. Termination

  • You can delete your account at any time.
  • We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
  • On termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ChatRig and Sidejar LLC are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site at least 14 days before they take effect.
