1. Who we are

ChatRig ("we," "us," "our") is an AI chatbot platform operated by Sidejar LLC. This policy explains how we handle information when you use chatrig.dev and related services.

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: Email address and hashed password when you sign up.
  • Project data: Chatbot configurations, knowledge base files you upload, system prompts, and branding settings.
  • Conversation data: Messages exchanged between your website visitors and your chatbot, including visitor IDs, page URLs, and timestamps.
  • API keys: If you use BYOK mode, your OpenAI API key is stored encrypted and only used to make requests on your behalf.
  • Usage data: Analytics events (page views, feature usage) collected via PostHog. We do not sell this data.
  • Cookies: Authentication cookies to keep you signed in. We use minimal analytics cookies via PostHog.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide and operate the ChatRig service.
  • To process conversations between your visitors and your chatbot.
  • To send you daily digest emails (if enabled) and service-related notifications.
  • To improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns.
  • To respond to support requests.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your data. We share information only with:

  • OpenAI: Conversation messages are sent to OpenAI's API (using your key in BYOK mode, or ours in managed mode) to generate chatbot responses.
  • Supabase: Our database and authentication provider.
  • Vercel: Our hosting provider.
  • Loops: For transactional emails (digest, notifications).
  • PostHog: For privacy-friendly product analytics.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data and project data for as long as your account is active. Conversation data is retained indefinitely unless you delete your project. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Export your conversation data.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), encrypted storage for API keys, and row-level security in our database. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions.

8. Children

ChatRig is not intended for use by anyone under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the site.
