Why we built ChatRig

We've been building websites and SaaS products for years. Every time we needed to add a chatbot to a client's site, the options were the same: pay $40-500/month for a platform that charges you per message, caps your usage with confusing credit systems, and slaps their branding all over your widget unless you pay extra.

It felt like the entire AI chatbot space was designed to extract maximum revenue from people who just want to answer their visitors' questions.

So we built ChatRig.

What ChatRig actually does

ChatRig lets you add an AI-powered chatbot to any website in about five minutes. Here's how it works:

1. Upload your docs -- PDFs, Word docs, text files, markdown. Whatever you've got. ChatRig trains on your content so it actually knows your stuff.

2. Configure a personality -- Tell the bot how to behave. Friendly and casual? Professional and concise? You decide.

3. Embed one line of code -- Drop a script tag on your site. That's it. The chat widget appears and starts answering questions based on your content.

What makes ChatRig different

Bring your own API key

This is the big one. Most chatbot platforms charge you a premium for AI usage -- they're essentially reselling OpenAI's API at a 5-10x markup and calling it "message credits."

With ChatRig, you can plug in your own OpenAI API key and pay OpenAI directly. You get the same GPT-4 responses at a fraction of the cost. Our Starter plan with BYOK is $9/month. The equivalent at Chatbase is $40/month for fewer messages.

If you don't want to deal with API keys, that's fine too -- we offer managed AI plans where we handle everything. But you have the choice.

White-label included

Every ChatRig plan includes white-label. No "ChatRig" branding on your widget. No "Powered by" footer. No $199/month add-on fee to remove it.

Your chatbot looks like your chatbot.

We don't do message credits that cost different amounts depending on which AI model you use. We don't charge per "AI response" at variable rates.
